Christmas is over and already we find ourselves in 2014. Often we are feeling motivated and ready for change with the start of the New Year, and this is why we spend so much energy on making resolutions for the next 12 months. Most of us want to create a healthier lifestyle — we want to lose weight, get fit or maybe kick some bad lifestyle habits, like smoking. Let’s start the year on a positive note and make 2014 a successful year, achieving great happiness both personally and professionally in our lives. We can do this by concentrating on changing and creating new lifestyle habits.

Looking after and caring for our bodies is one of the kindest things we can do. We only have one body to travel through life with and if we don’t do the right thing by it, we eventually pay the price. If you give your body respect every day by exercising at least 30 minutes a day, eating fresh foods and avoiding processed foods, you will find the quality of your life will improve immensely. Most people find they have more energy and are better equipped to cope with their daily lives through both the good times and the more difficult times.

I like to start the focus of my year with a positive affirmation — something that keeps me motivated and determined to stick to my goals. Strong body, strong mind is my mantra and I use it daily to stay focused. It reminds me to stay strong with my nutrition and exercise throughout the day. Perhaps there is a positive quotation that you could use to help reaffirm your healthy goals each day and help start 2014 off on the right foot? Let 2014 be your year for positive change!
